Inside Shan Leo's Wallet...

Shan Leo received a wallet present from his teacher a few days ago. He was so happy about it. Shan Leo said he was the only one who got a present from teacher. Hmm... we wonder could it be his recent good 1st semester results???

Anyway, mummy was shocked to see what was inside the wallet. Shan Leo drew a picture of his "girlfriend", Amanda and kept it inside the wallet!!! OMG!!! Such a young boy knows how to do this!!! We were really, really surprised!!!

Here is the picture of Amanda, and Shan Leo even wrote "I Love You"!!! *scratch head*

2009 1st Semester Progress Report

Time flies, and half a year is gone. Mummy went to Shan Leo's kindie to collect his report card more than a week ago. She was very pleased with Shan Leo's 1st semester progress. Shan Leo was one of the 3 students who scored perfect results. Why I said perfect results? Well, there were about 10 students who scored 100 for all subjects. But out of the 10 students, only 3 students scored an A for Writing. That is how teacher differentiate the students with perfect results.

In fact, mummy was very surprised when teacher says that Shan Leo is very attentive in class. He did all the right things, and speak when its the right time. Mummy wonders... "Shan Leo is so different at home!!!" At home, Shan Leo loves to talk when he is asked to do his homework or revisions. He also loves to complain, etc etc

Anyway, we are happy, and mummy rewarded him with a mechanical pencil - as what Shan Leo wanted. And, I have promised to bring him to watch Ice Age 3. Since we had a busy weekend, we will be watching Ice Age 3 next weekend.

Well done Shan Leo!!!

Eight-month old’s only hope lies in a liver transplant
By STUART MICHAEL

EIGHT-MONTH-OLD Loke Kai Xin is in need of a liver transplant.

Kai Xin, born on Oct 22 last year, was diagnosed with biliary atresia after developing jaundice when she was only three months old, and her parents have been advised that she should undergo liver transplant surgery at the National University Hospital, Singapore (NUHS).

Biliary atresia is a condition in which the bile produced by the liver cannot flow from the liver to the gall bladder, resulting in liver damage and ultimately, liver failure.

According to Kai Xin’s father, Eric Loke Lee Ping, the only place in Malaysia where liver transplant surgery is carried out is the Selayang Hospital, where the waiting period is a year.
In need of a liver transplant: Lee with Kai Xin. The baby has jaundice and a bloated belly, both signs of liver failure.

“In February, Kai Xin underwent a Kasai procedure (surgical treatment to allow bile from the liver to bypass blocked bile ducts) at the Sunway Medical Centre in Petaling Jaya but it was unsuccessful, and we were advised that a liver transplant was her only remaining option.

“As she was underweight, we were advised by the University Malaya Specialist Centre (UMSC) to seek medical help in Singapore,” said Loke, who was with his daughter and wife Lee Huey Jing at the UMSC in Petaling Jaya on Saturday.

“The doctor at NUHS told us that my wife is the most suitable donor.

“However, the medical team at NUHS has not scheduled any tentative date for the operation because Kai Xin’s weight has not reached the minimum requirement of 8kg.

“Kai Xin now weighs about 7kg, and only when she is at least 7.6kg will NUHS arrange a date,” he said.

To help Kai Xin gain weight, she has been warded at the UMSC where she is fed less milk volume but at increased frequency, using a feeding pump at night.

Loke said the liver transplant operation was estimated to cost RM500,000, inclusive of medical treatment like pre-surgery assessment procedures, post-operative care and follow-ups.
It is a sum that the couple cannot bear in full, and as such, they are appealing for help from the public.

A fund has been set up for Kai Xin under Yayasan Sin Chew.

Those who would like to make a contribution may issue a cheque to Yayasan Sin Chew, with the beneficiary’s name, donor’s full name, IC number, complete address and telephone number written on the back. The cheque should be sent to Yayasan Sin Chew at 19, Jalan Semangat, 46200 Petaling Jaya, Selangor Darul Ehsan.

Yayasan Sin Chew opens from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday.

Reading Newspapers

Shan Leo is "reading" the newspapers now. It all started about a month ago. He always see daddy & mummy reading newspapers. And out of curiosity, he follows the same. Well, he is not really "reading" the newspapers as per say, but he will flipped through the papers, read some news headlines, and finally stopped at the comics page. And, from the newspapers, he discovered the movies section. That is how Shan Leo found out about the Monsters vs Alien movie. Ever since, he will always check the movies section for any upcoming cartoon movies.

The coming cartoon movie is Ice Age 3. Shan Leo called me yesterday, and asked me if its showing today. He wants to know if I can bring him to watch it. Of course, its a yes from me! So, we will be going for a movie date again soon!!!

No Fun Drawing Competition

Another backdated post. KK took Shan Leo to participate in the drawing competition, 2 days after we went to check out the Bird Park attraction at The Curve. We have high expectations on Shan Leo coz we know very well he can draw really nice birds.

Since I was working that day, I didn't join them. What I heard from mummy is, Shan Leo make a big fuss when mummy refused to buy something for him. And of late, Shan Leo has been asking us to buy him lots of things!!! It's really annoying. We have told him off many times that he shouldn't be doing that. As long as he behaves well, we will be more than happy to give him little surprises every now and then. Anyway, back to the drawing competition, Shan Leo was already in a bad mood when the competition started. Mummy said he didn't performed up to standard. And, ended up with this drawing...

What do you think? I think its not the usual happy birds that Shan Leo draws *sigh*
