Shan Rae @ 11 Months
Posted by 2ma | Posted in Milestones, Shan Rae |

My sweetie pie, Shan Rae gonna turn 1 in less than a month time *yipee*
Sad to say that there won't be any grand 1st birthday party for Shan Rae. In fact, we really wanted to do it. And we started planning for it as early as 2 months back. But 2 weeks ago, my mum told us the weekend that we wanted to hold the party falls on the actual "ching ming" prayers day!!! As such, everyone will be busy during the day, and at night, parents will usually avoid bringing their kids out *sigh* So, un-reluctantly, we have made the decision of cancelling the birthday party.
Since, there is no big party, we are planning for a private party with just the family. We will try to make it as fun and memorable as well, minus all the friends and relatives *sigh* I shall update on that after Shan Rae's birthday.
To celebrate Shan Rae turning one, I have even arranged for a profile photo shoot for him. It was done last weekend. It was planned in a way that all the photos will be ready just in time for his birthday party *sigh, sigh* Anyway, I will share with all on the photos once its ready.
Shan Rae @ 11 months means this little boy is showing more and more of his character. We can definitely tell that he is very different from Shan Leo. Shan Rae is very rough and loves to use his voice (crying) to "win" over things. He loves excitement, and last weekend, while at the playground for the photo shoot, Shan Rae enjoyed his swing so much that he refused to let go!!! And the moment we swing him really hard, you will begin to see his cheeky smile. Shan Rae doesn't have the patience when mummy reads to him.
The only nursery rhyme that capture his attention is "Round and round the garden, like a teddy bear. One step, two step... Tickle you under there!" Shan Rae knows what "kai kai" (going out) means, and the moment any of us say that, he will immediately want us to carry him!!! Sometimes, it is so fun to play "kai kai" trick with Shan Rae. But of course, after we succeeded, we will bring him out of the house, or at least to the door *haha*
When its sleeping time for him, he only wants mummy. So, if I were to put him to sleep, have to make sure mummy is no where in sight and he can't hear her voice. One improvement of Shan Rae is, he is more willing to sit on his stroller when we go shopping. And he knows when we go into the car, he will have to sit in his own car seat. With that, we carry less of him when we go shopping, and Shan Leo gets to sit in the stroller so that he can read or draw.
Now, we have to crack our heads to decide on what cake to buy, and what we can do to make Shan Rae's 1st birthday a memorable one!!!

His facial expression so cute...
Happy 11 months..
You are really a good yee-ma lah! Wish my son had a yee-ma like you!!!
a good small celebration is better than a grand one for a one year old. i did the mistake of having a grand one.. the little one did not understand what the fuss is all about.. ended up my hubs and i were sooooo very tired at the end of the day.. :)
little lamb - shan rae has lots of "naughty" expression *hehe* as compared to shan leo when they were the same age
family first - tq, tq!!
merryn - we wanted a big one for shan rae coz we didn't have any full moon party for him. well, i guess its difficult to organize birthday party for shan rae in future coz somehow it will always coincide with "ching ming" prayers *sob, sob*
Hi 2ma, The positive side of not having a grand celebration - no crying, no tired looks from the 'chief guest' himself. He will enjoy it better with family. We had a small celebration for Ru too on her 1st birthday with just one family friend who has a child. Children start crying not understanding what its all about and need attention. We went once to a party of a 1st birthday boy who was soo stunned by everyone clapping on blowing the cake that he started crying very loudly. You can have a grand one when he is 2 or 3 and starts understanding what a birthday is all about.
soon turn one..yea!!!!!!! I can't wait to plan for the Bumbo Boys too, as it is only another 2.5month down the road!
How time flies, another one more month Shan Rae will celebrate his 1st birthday. :)
Get some cup cakes or jelly cake for Shan Rae 1st birthday?
Shan Rae is so cute in the pictures :) I think it's ok for no having a huge celebration this year, maybe on the next year or so, you could do it like Friday night or Saturday etc so it won't coincide with "ching ming" prayers. Actually Angel's birthday is about 1 week from now too but we didn't want to have a big party this year as we wanted to enjoy ourselves as much as we can rather then entertaining the guesses all night long :) Maybe when she is older la .... :)
You got one real cute kid there...knows how to makes faces at the camera. Ha ha.
And less than 1 year old? Cute pics.
You have a nice day, Lee.
yaggya - u r right as well! guess dis birthday party is more for the adults! *hehe* or maybe shan leo!!
chin nee - wah...so fast already hor! happy planning!
annie - cup cakes is my last choice coz i wanted a marzipan/sugar icing cake with figurines or special designs. the one i checked cost rm400!! too expensive already...so, am checking with another cake house
mommy angel - yeah, we will have a small party & have a blast ourselves *hehe*
uncle lee - thanks for dropping by! shan rae have lots of funny expression and especially his "ooh, ooh" face!! we love it!
hey, how about doing it on another weekend? then you get to have a grand celebration for Shan Rae. Can do 1 week early :D don't be sad. whatever it is, i am sure Shan Rae will enjoy himself :D
He is such a big boy now!
Hope he'll have a 1st birthday blast you've planned for him!
wow shan rae is turning 1 soon.. so exciting!!!!! a private party will be nice :)
barbara - its either a few days early or almost 2 weeks early *sigh* anyway, we have confirmed no big party for rae and it will just be a simple family dinner & a day out at kidzsport for the boys
angeleyes - yeah, i hope to make the day special for him!
kristie - its gonna b really, really private lor *haha*
I just love his cheeky expression on the 2nd photo!
I'm also going to do a simple celebration with the family for Elyssa's upcoming first birthday. I think at this age, babies love hugs and affection more than a big party. I'm sure he'll enjoy his private party :)
Happy 11th mths to Shan Rae.
For me, it is not a bad news to have a private party just with family. Less work in organising things, less work in cleaning and etc...And the most impt thing, you can have more time spent with Shan Rae on that special day compared with attending the guest.
i'm speeding up my work this week!! hop over to my blog for a lil surprise ;)
adrine - yes, adrine! do agree with u
sarah's daddy & mummy - true ler...since its private, then we can take more photos *hehe*
jazz - tq, tq!!
