Shan Leo's Sunday Mornings

This is what Shan Leo does every Sunday mornings. He attends the Children Dharma classes at Persatuan Meditasi Fo Guang Shan 佛光文教中心

He started sometime in February this year, but I have yet to join him for any of the Sunday classes except once during his lunch break. All the students are not allowed to talk during lunch, and they are not supposed to waste any food. Hence, when Shan Leo found out about this, he was very worried. He kept asking daddy how to say "little bit" in Mandarin *haha* He is worried that he will be punished for wasting food.

Anyway, since the classes are in Mandarin, many of times Shan Leo will say he doesn't understand what the Master taught. I really do hope that Shan Leo will pick up some Buddhist values soon. So far, he has not *sigh* He likes to talk during dinner time *faint*

First Few Steps @ The Mall

For the past 2 weeks, Shan Rae began to enjoy walking. Especially, after we bought him his first pair of shoes. PP says "no hand me downs" for a 1 year old boy. Shan Rae must have a new pair of shoes to mark his 1 year old birthday. In fact, my mum pantang babies to wear shoes before they are 1 years old. But, as the modern generation, we just could not resist all the tiny and cute shoes for the little ones *hehe*

Anyway, back to Shan Rae. We took him shopping last Saturday, and he wants to walk. So, we take turns to hold his hand while he walk. It is kinda tiring for us. And, Shan Rae doesn't seems to be tired at all. We can only carry him, if he has satisfied his "walking cravings" *haha*

Here is a video of Shan Rae first few steps at the shopping mall.

Shan Rae & His Saliva

Lately, Shan Rae seems to enjoy playing with his saliva. Once he starts it, he will go on, and on, and on... And the next thing you know, your shirt will be wet!!! Check this out... I decided to record it after Shan Rae did it for a while, and I was expecting him to stop the moment he sees my camera. Surprisingly, he didn't and that's how it ended up here *hehe*

The Boys @ 11 Months Old

The boys short of 1 month to 1 years old, and both are still "botak". Friends and relatives says Shan Rae looks very much like daddy, and Shan Leo looks more like mummy. Well, when we observe closer, the boys' character are just like their daddy & mummy. That means, Shan Rae is lil' daddy, and Shan Leo is lil' mummy - character wise. Isn't that fair?

Shan Rae @ 11 Months

My sweetie pie, Shan Rae gonna turn 1 in less than a month time *yipee*

Sad to say that there won't be any grand 1st birthday party for Shan Rae. In fact, we really wanted to do it. And we started planning for it as early as 2 months back. But 2 weeks ago, my mum told us the weekend that we wanted to hold the party falls on the actual "ching ming" prayers day!!! As such, everyone will be busy during the day, and at night, parents will usually avoid bringing their kids out *sigh* So, un-reluctantly, we have made the decision of cancelling the birthday party.

Since, there is no big party, we are planning for a private party with just the family. We will try to make it as fun and memorable as well, minus all the friends and relatives *sigh* I shall update on that after Shan Rae's birthday.

To celebrate Shan Rae turning one, I have even arranged for a profile photo shoot for him. It was done last weekend. It was planned in a way that all the photos will be ready just in time for his birthday party *sigh, sigh* Anyway, I will share with all on the photos once its ready.

Shan Rae @ 11 months means this little boy is showing more and more of his character. We can definitely tell that he is very different from Shan Leo. Shan Rae is very rough and loves to use his voice (crying) to "win" over things. He loves excitement, and last weekend, while at the playground for the photo shoot, Shan Rae enjoyed his swing so much that he refused to let go!!! And the moment we swing him really hard, you will begin to see his cheeky smile. Shan Rae doesn't have the patience when mummy reads to him.

The only nursery rhyme that capture his attention is "Round and round the garden, like a teddy bear. One step, two step... Tickle you under there!" Shan Rae knows what "kai kai" (going out) means, and the moment any of us say that, he will immediately want us to carry him!!! Sometimes, it is so fun to play "kai kai" trick with Shan Rae. But of course, after we succeeded, we will bring him out of the house, or at least to the door *haha*

When its sleeping time for him, he only wants mummy. So, if I were to put him to sleep, have to make sure mummy is no where in sight and he can't hear her voice. One improvement of Shan Rae is, he is more willing to sit on his stroller when we go shopping. And he knows when we go into the car, he will have to sit in his own car seat. With that, we carry less of him when we go shopping, and Shan Leo gets to sit in the stroller so that he can read or draw.

Now, we have to crack our heads to decide on what cake to buy, and what we can do to make Shan Rae's 1st birthday a memorable one!!!

Photo Shoot @ The Park

We were excited about this photo shoot because this is the boys first photo shoot together, and it is done in the park. We went to Bukit Jalil park for the photo shoot, not knowing what to expect. This photo shoot is done by Yu Tsing. She loves to take photos, but she has never done any proper photo shoot assignment. So, one day, she suggested this to us. And, we immediately say YES!

Initially, we planned to do a photo shoot of the boys wearing clothings from lil' twinkle. But we change our plans last minute because most of the clothings we have are almost sold out or the sizes we have on hand doesn't fits the boys *hehe* Anyhow, we still proceed with the photo shoot. And, since this is our first photo shoot, we have no idea what to prepare for it. Same goes for Yu Tsing. Thus, everything just goes by the flow.

If there were 1 thing that we should do right for this session, it would be giving Shan Rae enough rest. Shan Rae was already feeling sleepy as we reached the park. And thus, you don't see much of smiley Shan Rae in the photos. As for Shan Leo, he had a great time enjoying himself, running around the park. But he is still a little shy to do his favourite pose.

At the end of the session, we were all sweaty and tired. Little regrets that we didn't take any photos of us with both the boys together. Nevertheless, we will do this again. Once again, thanks Yu Tsing!

Shan Rae showing one of his favourite antics - pouting ooh!

Another cheeky expression!

Shan Leo's Art Gallery II

I have not really been compiling all the nice pictures drawn by Shan Leo the last couple of months. And finally, I picked up all my lazy bones and did it today. I have to capture all the nice work done by Shan Leo before daddy thrash all his work!!!

KK is really impressed with Shan Leo's drawing and for every nice piece of artwork drawn, Shan Leo will receive some money from KK. Well, KK is like his art teacher. KK will guide Shan Leo and mark (grade) his work. If you noticed in the photos below, there are some "Good", "V.Good", "V.V.Good" and "Excellent" remarks next to the drawings.

Here are some drawings from Shan Leo.

Coconut Tree

Did you noticed that Shan Leo had a haircut recently? It has been almost 2 weeks since. When I first saw him after the haircut, I said to myself "Aiyoh, why so short ah?". Then, I asked Shan Leo "Do you like your new haircut?"

Shan Leo says... "I look like a COCONUT TREE"

Huh? Coconut tree??? Why ah??? Shan Leo cannot explain but he kept saying he looks like a coconut tree now!!! So, I quickly informed daddy. Just to make sure daddy don't repeat the same again, since he cuts Shan Leo's hair.

Two days ago, mummy told me that she knows why Shan Leo says he looks like a coconut tree. Apparently, one his classmate had similar short hair style, and everyone was laughing at his head and said it looked like a coconut tree! Kids ah, aren't they creative? *hehe*

It's Silver This Year

15th Feb 2009 @ TTDI Multipurpose Hall - Shan Leo received his 2nd Kumon award. We are so happy with his achievement. This year, Shan Leo received a Silver award for Mathematics in Pre-Kindergarten 2 *clap, clap*.

Besides receiving his award, Shan Leo chamber with his cousins too. They are one of the 2 groups that performed for the day. We noticed that Shan Leo really loves the attention when he is on stage. You can check out Shan Leo's expression on stage here.

This year is Kumon's 50th anniversary. Hence, the ceremony was held in a big scale whereby 8 different Kumon centers join together. There were hundreds of students who came to collect their award. Some collected 2 awards because they did well for both Mathematics & English subject. With 8 different centers and hundreds of students, the whole ceremony was in mess. We didn't enjoy ourselves like we did last year when Shan Leo received his Bronze award at his own Kumon center.

At the end of the session was the group photo session, and by then, more than half of the students & parents had left. This is a photo of Shan Leo and other award recipients from his own Kumon center.

Mummy says, Shan Leo shall aim for gold next year *hehe* Now, Shan Leo is learning the following...
