No Fun Drawing Competition

Another backdated post. KK took Shan Leo to participate in the drawing competition, 2 days after we went to check out the Bird Park attraction at The Curve. We have high expectations on Shan Leo coz we know very well he can draw really nice birds.

Since I was working that day, I didn't join them. What I heard from mummy is, Shan Leo make a big fuss when mummy refused to buy something for him. And of late, Shan Leo has been asking us to buy him lots of things!!! It's really annoying. We have told him off many times that he shouldn't be doing that. As long as he behaves well, we will be more than happy to give him little surprises every now and then. Anyway, back to the drawing competition, Shan Leo was already in a bad mood when the competition started. Mummy said he didn't performed up to standard. And, ended up with this drawing...

What do you think? I think its not the usual happy birds that Shan Leo draws *sigh*

Happy 61st Birthday Mum!

We had a grand celebration for mum this year, as it is her 61st birthday. Initially, it was supposed to be just a simple birthday dinner with family & some close friends. But, my mum have loads of friends. And, my dad wanted us to do quite a few things for the dinner. Hence, I would described the dinner as grand. Almost all the things you can find in a wedding dinner, you can find it here!

So, what did we prepared for the birthday dinner? Here is a list of it:-
1. Customized Birthday invitation card
2. Special Birthday banner
3. Special customized "Queen of the Day" balloon
4. Customized chocolates for all guest
5. Video shooting
6. A surprise birthday dedication video we (all the kids) did for mum (I will post it once I grabbed hold of the resized video)
7. A surprise song dedication
8. Flowers for mum
9. 100 cup cakes with the no.61, and with mahjong & shopping theme

The dinner went smoothly, even though there were some minor hiccups in the beginning. The highlight of the evening was the surprise video, and a song dedication for mum. She was so touched by it. Even my sis couldn't withhold her tears. And while we were on stage singing, my mum friends went to congratulate my mum. Once we were done with our song dedication (we sang Chan Tik Ngoi Nei by Beyond), mum went up the stage to give an impromptu speech. She was at a lost of words in the beginning coz she was still in shock *hehe* After her speech, she sang a song for all the guest. All the guest were also invited to sing on stage. The dinner ended at about 10+. And after the dinner was over, we stayed back for the tea ceremony - a customary thing for our family. We (all the kids) presented tea for mum, and finally, end the night with a fun group photo. And also to video shoot the ending for the dinner.

Our "yummy" menu for the dinner.

A family photo before the guests arrive.

This dinner is created, directed and presented by all of us here.

Mum with her surprise balloon.

Here, my dad trying to "force" kiss my mum again *haha*

Tea ceremony and also our angpow presentation to mum.

Our finale photo for the night!

Bird Park @ The Mall

This is a backdated post. We took the boys to The Curve during the school holidays after reading about the Bird Park attraction at the mall. Shan Leo was very excited, and kept asking us about it. Well, its really a mini bird park. A mini version of the KL Bird Park we went about 2 months ago.

Even so, Shan Leo still love it very much. He went to watch the bird twice. Besides looking at all the birds, Shan Leo will read all the information displayed on the boards. Well, he may not understand everything, but he will insist on reading it. Anyway, we may consider going to the KL Bird Park again one of these days. It is really a nice place for a day outing under the sun.

The funny thing is, no matter how much Shan Leo love watching the birds, he just can't bring himself to go near the birds for a photo session. We thought it would be nice to have a parrot on his shoulder photo as a keep sake. But this boy would just scream his lungs out the moment we bring him near the birds??? So, the next best thing, is to put a toy for him. And, I choose a toy snake for him *hehe*

Since the place is quite small, and its inconvenient to bring the stroller, we didn't really bring Shan Rae to look at the birds. So, this photo was taken at Dome where we had our lunch. Shan Rae was busy playing with sugar that we lay on the table for him, to distract him, so that mummy could feed him lunch *shake head* There is no way we could get Shan Rae to look at the camera *sigh*

The Nebulizer "Attack"

When Shan Rae was hospitalized, he has to use the nebulizer every 3 hours. And each time, he will cry throughout the session. Its not that it hurts, but he just doesn't likes it. I also noticed that, if we are around, he will cry even louder!!! Poor Shan Rae! I could just watched helplessly till its over.

The weird thing is, ever since Shan Rae was discharged from the hospital, he loves to "bite" mummy each time she bf him. We have no idea why??? Shan Rae was so well behaved throughout his 4 days hospital stay. But the day he came back home, he starts to "bite"!!! I told mummy, probably he is still using his mouth to breathe, that's why he "bites". Or, he feels the milk doesn't taste the same, and thinking you were playing with him, so, he bites??? Mummy has to pump out her milk now, and if Shan Rae continues to bite, mummy may start him on formula milk :(

"Mummies, have your baby ever "bites" you during feeding time?"

Update on Shan Rae

Shan Rae is finally home after 4 days in the hospital. The main reason why he stayed in the hospital for many days is to clear his heavy phlegm. Till today, a day after he is discharge from hospital, he still has phlegm *sigh*

While at the hospital, the nurses will use the nebulizer (every 3 hours) to clear Shan Rae's phlegm. And each time, he will cry (I will upload the pic & video later). He just hated the mist that comes from the nebulizer. Besides the nebulizer, the nurse will inject some medication through his hand. Other than that, Shan Rae is perfectly fine. He behaved quite well at the hospital.

Now that he is home, Doc has gave mummy a different type of nebulizer, nose drop and medication for Shan Rae. I really hope his phlegm will clear really soon. And of course, he won't have any asthma attack *pray, pray*

Crying Boy!

Shan Rae
This was taken 2 days before Shan Rae was hospitalized. Poor boy doesn't knows what he wants, and crying for mummy only. Shan Rae only wants mummy and no one else :(

My Poor Rae Rae :(

Today is the 3rd day Shan Rae stayed in the hospital. He has been sick on and off for a while. And days before he was admitted to the hospital, he was down with fever, flu, cough, etc. He also has lots of phlegm. Finally, on Tuesday, mummy took him to the hospital. Doc says Shan Rae is asthmatic. I am so sad upon hearing it. Anyway, Doc took Shan Rae's blood & urine test and also x-ray. Glad that he passed all the tests. At the moment, Shan Rae has to use the nebulizer every 3 hours to clear all his phlegm. Will share more on this later...

Shan Rae @ His Music Movement Class

If I remember correctly, this is Shan Rae's 3rd month attending the music movement class. And finally, I took a day off to join him at his class. Well, I used to accompany Shan Leo at his music movement class. Thus, I wouldn't want to miss it when it is Shan Rae's turn now.

Shan Rae was the youngest in the class. Hence, he couldn't really follow the instructions given. Most of the time, mummy will be helping Shan Rae. And now that I have joined both the boys at their music movement class, I can really tell that Shan Rae doesn't have the patience or interest in music as much as his kor kor. He doesn't likes to be confine or seated together with mummy doing all the actions/movement. There will be times when he wanders out...

Anyway, if you wanna know what I mean, do check out the following 2 videos.

Tanjung Sepat & Jenjarom (7 June 2009)

We have been hearing much of Tanjung Sepat for a long time. And finally, we made a trip there. We went for a "makan-ing" day trip together with my uncle & family and another friend's family. All together 4 cars. We relied on the GPS for the nearest route direction. And, we are glad that we reached all the recommended "makan" place easily.

Our first stop was the bak kut teh place. We think its "so-so" only. Nothing great, I'd say. After that, we walked to the famous pau factory - Hai Yew Hin. They have a mini production factory there where you can view all the aunties busy making the paus. If you wanna eat a steaming hot pau, you can go to the opposite stall, which used to be their old place. We ordered a few paus to share. We also ordered some fried stuffs such as fried spring roll, soft shell crab and sotong. At the same place, there is also a stall that sells really nice kedondong juice *yum*

After we finished all the food *burp*, we went to the ling zhi farm. We walked around, and took some photos. Next, we went to check out the keropok factory. The moment we entered the shop (cum factory), we were offered all the different samples of keropok. So, we ate again! *burp, burp* We bought some keropok home, and then left the place to another place to buy the fresh fish ball.

By then, it was already 1 plus, and its time for lunch. We had wanted to go Ocen Restaurant. A place that had good reviews. But, we were informed that the main chef has left. Hence, we went to Baywatch. This place is quite nice as you can see, we took quite a few photos here. The food here is also "so-so" only. Or probably, we are too full??? Price wise, it is considered expensive (for Tanjung Sepat standard).

After lunch, we left Tanjung Sepat and went to visit Dong Zhen temple at Jenjarom. The temple is beautiful. But, we didn't walk around much as the weather was hot.

In fact, Shan Rae was still sick that day. Hence, those photos of him smiling are really precious.

On our back to KL, we stopped by the road side for some kampung durians. Too bad that there weren't many durians left. So, we sapu everything there *yum, yum* The last stop after our durian feast was the famous Samuri satay. So, this is our "makan-ing" day trip *burp, burp* We enjoyed ourselves very much, and we look forward to more of such fun trips again!

Here are more photos of our day trip.

Monsters vs Aliens

Bringing Shan Leo to the movies is "our" time. I was already planning to bring him to the movies. And I told mummy, don't tell him first till I can confirmed on the dates. Just so happened, Shan Leo was flipping through the newspapers, and he saw the advertisement.

Hence, mummy had to tell him that I will bring him to watch Monsters vs Aliens. He was so excited about it. As usual, I will bring along his car booster seat to the cinema. With that, Shan Leo can sit comfortably, and need not worry that there will be someone blocking his view.

Shan Leo did enjoy the movie. But he said he was quite scared in some parts of the movie. Anyway, he is now eyeing for Ice Age 3. With Shan Leo around, I started to watch cartoon movies in cinema. This is something which I will never consider doing in the past! No matter how good the review was...
