Snowflake, Taiwanese Dessert + Beeping UFO

- Backdated Post -

The Beeping UFO goes "beep, beep" when our Snowflake dessert is ready. Isn't this cool?

We went to Snowflake, Taiwanese Dessert at The Pavilion on New Year's day. It is our first time there. We were so excited when we were given the Beeping UFO after placing our order.

Shan Leo was playing with it, and when it beeps, I asked Shan Leo to hang on to it for a quick photo before collecting our dessert.

We ordered a refreshing lemon jelly with pearls snowflake. Since there is only 3 of us, we couldn't ordered more. The bowl of dessert is huge. Next round, we will try their best seller (grass jelly & taro balls).

Here is our bowl of dessert. We basically licked the bowl clean *hehe* I heard they are running a "Buy 1, Free 1" promo till end of this month. So, this may be a good time to check it out. Hopefully, I can find time to go again with the 2 boys before the promo ends.

Shan Leo & Friends

Shan Leo was invited to Jordan's birthday party at Kidz Sports last Saturday. And, he spent almost 5 hours there playing. At the end of the day, we only realised that among all the kids at the party, the 3 of them - Shan Leo, Amanda & Jordan are the closest! Hence, Amanda's mummy suggested that we should meet up more often so that the 3 kids can play together.

Lovely Amanda is Shan Leo's girlfriend. She is really adorable. When both of them are together, they will start to yak, yak and yak non-stop. They were in the same class for the last 2 years, and seated together. But this year, they are in different class. That means, Shan Leo won't be seeing Amanda as much. Glad that we got to know Amanda & Jordan's mums, and decide that we should hang out again sometime.

I wonder if this 3 kids will become best friends forever??? Probably may require some effort from the parents. I heard, all 3 will be attending different primary schools next year. Hence, it will be even tougher to keep in touch. So, do you still keep in touch with your kindergarten friends? I don't :(

It's a Gold Finally!

This is a proud moment for us. We waited for this day to come after the Bronze & Silver. And finally, Shan Leo received his first Gold award for Mathematics at the Kumon Advanced Students Honour Roll for 2009. I knew very well that this award doesn't come easy for both Shan Leo and mummy.

Everyday, rain or shine - mummy has to diligently sit down with Shan Leo to complete his daily worksheets. On a good day, Shan Leo will breeze through the worksheets. But, on some days, Shan Leo will take more than 30 minutes to complete the worksheets. And, when it takes such a long time, mummy's patience immediately drops to zero, and her blood starts to boil! The screaming starts, and the boy starts to throw tantrum. Ohh... I just hate that sight! So, this award meant a lot to mummy, and Shan Leo too (I hope).

Shan Leo started Kumon when he was about 2 years, 8 months old. I still remember that clearly cause he did his first few Kumon worksheets in Macau!!! As time progressed, the worksheets become tougher. When I look at the worksheets, I tell myself "I only learned this when I was in Primary 3 or 4 maybe". Anyway, mummy thinks Shan Leo might have to stop his Kumon when he begins Standard 1 next year. If its not Kumon, probably will be his art or piano lessons *sigh*

Meantime, I will just enjoy all the proud moments I can share. I always have this thinking - nothing is meant forever. Just like his interest in drawing. We really thought he has great talent in drawing, and probably might achieve something out of it. Mana tau, he has lost his passion in drawing. And, his drawing lately are horrible.

As such, let me record down this proud moment of Shan Leo - so that he can read about it when he is slightly older.

Shan Leo waiting for his turn to receive the award.

Finally, the emcee announced his name. He was so excited when his name was called upon. Too bad that I didn't managed to capture that smile on his face. After he received his award, he complained that the emcee pronounced his name wrongly.

"This is me!"

And finally, a photo of us before we chow. Daddy was not there that day to witness this special moment. He has his own reasons, which I honestly don't understand. I mean, isn't this a proud moment for all parents??? *sigh*

By the way, in case you are wondering how come we dressed up casually, and with the flower garlands. Well, the theme for the day was Hawaiian. I know our dress code didn't really meet the theme, but what to do - all I can say, poor planning!!!

A Visit to Ti-Ratana Welfare Home

Last Saturday (9th Jan 2010), my company organized a visit to Ti-Ratana Welfare Home. We collected some donations from fellow colleagues, and brought lots of goodies for everyone in the home which consists of orphans, old folks and single mums.

Hence, I decided to bring Shan Leo with me. I wanted Shan Leo to know that he is a super lucky boy, with lots of love from all of us. Besides, I also want him to appreciate all the things he has.

Anyway, back to the visit. We toured around the place, which is really big. This home has different houses for the female and male orphans/old folks.

Here are some of the younger kids singing for us. There are also some older kids who performed hip hop, Indian & CNY dance.

The rest of the kids watched the performance too.

When the show is over, the kids went back to this pathetic "play room". I think there were about 15 kids in this bare playing room. And when they saw us leaving, the kids move forward to the gate and waved goodbye to us. It is quite a sad sight. Too bad that Shan Leo didn't see this.

Anyway, I think this is really a good experience for Shan Leo. And, I do hope he has learnt something from this short visit :D

New Hobby???

Shan Leo is interested to take photos lately. Hence, mummy gave him her old camera.

I wonder if this is just another toy for him, or it will become his hobby???

The funny thing is, he will mimic me!!! It is really funny!!!

Shan Leo Can Act

Out of the blue, Shan Leo decides to demonstrate to us how he pretends to eat the lemon. It was really funny. Hence, I asked him to do it one more time so that I could video it. We didn't realised that a couple sitting next to us was watching him. As I was recording this, the man asked mummy about Shan Leo. From the video, you will noticed that Shan Leo paused a few times, and kept looking to his left. In fact, if the man didn't talk to mummy, we will really see how Shan Leo acting with just a piece of lemon *hehe* We didn't teach him anything, but he can showed us how he pretends to eat the lemon, and turn to his side, telling us how he fake it! He is so cheeky in this video. Well, you did hear him right - he introduce himself as Albert (Cool or Koo - I am also not sure coz he picked this up from his cousin)!!!

Picky Eater

Shan Rae loves to put food in his mouth, and spit it out!!! *arrgggghhh* Hence, I decided to record this. I want to show him when he grows up. He is doing this quite often lately, and I hope this phase will be over really soon.

Tiptoe

Check out how cheeky Shan Rae squat! This is my first time seeing him tiptoe while squatting down. Now, I understand why his shoes are so dirty & spoilt easily. Sometimes, he will also tiptoe around the house. Does your toddler tiptoe too?

Potty Trained

Mummy is so happy. She message me last night telling me that she has successfully potty trained Shan Rae *hooray* Shan Rae woke up mummy at 5am saying he wanna "poo-poo". Well, mummy will just have to monitor a few more days to make sure Shan Rae is really potty trained. And that means, I can save $$$ on buying diapers! Well done Shan Rae!

Shan Rae @ 21 Months

Shan Rae will turn 2 in 3 months time!!! Soon, he will be Terrible 2!!! Actually, he is already turning Terrible now *sigh*

Here are some of my observations in random order.

(1) Shan Rae is a demanding toddler. When he wants something, he must have it! Everyone must give in to him. And, you must give in to him immediately. Or else, he will throw tantrum!

(2) He prefers to walk, rather than sitting on the stroller. And when he walks, he prefers to hold on to the stroller.

(3) Finally, he can call Mummy!!! And, mummy is super happy :D

(4) Loves all kinds of junk food - chocolates, sweets, chips, soft drinks... *shake head*

(5) Shan Rae will tell us "No" when we asked to share his food. But, he will share with daddy, and occasionally mummy & kor kor.

(6) He is quite a shy boy. The moment he meets someone new or he knows someone is talking about him, he will start to put his hand to cover his face or rub his head.

(7) Shan Rae still prefers men. And, almost any men (& sometimes women) can carry him.

(8) Sometimes, when we scold him, he will lie on the floor and start crying. If we are carrying him, he will lean backwards.

(9) Shan Rae loves to use the massage chair. For every chance he can, he will climb up to the massage chair, and switch it on.

(10) He loves to play with anything that kor kor plays with.

(11) Shan Rae begins to doodle, and he can hold the pen quite well with both hands. When we tell him to draw us something, he will draw for us (as though he can really draw).

(12) He is still a little botak :(

(13) Shan Rae can recognise almost all the body parts and say some of it (p/s: Actually, he knows this long ago, but I never remember to update it).

(14) We took him for his 1st movie on Christmas day and he enjoys it without much fuss.

(15) I noticed that the last 2 weeks or so, he begins to smile for us when we asked him to sit still for a photo. And, when he smiles, it is so sweet...

(16) Shan Rae sometimes can tell mummy he wanna "poo-poo" before he poo-ed in his diapers. But most of the times, he will only say "poo-poo" after he poo-ed :(

(17) He still loves to "drive" when he is seated on the driver's seat. But the moment we really need to drive, he will go back to his seat without much fuss.

(18) At times when he is naughty, I will scold him. And after scolding him, I will ask him to come over. He will walk over with his head down. And the moment I carry him, he will put his head on my shoulder, giving that "manja" feel.

(19) Shan Rae has a bad habit of spitting out his food. This happens when he sees others eating something else, or someone offered him a new food.

(20) When he is naughty, mummy will say "Daddy will scold". And immediately, he will behave or listen. So far, it works like magic *hehe*

(21) Shan Rae loves to eat on his own. If anyone ever try to help him, he will push that person away. Check out the photos below.

Alvin & The Chipmunks: The Squeakquel

For the 1st time, we took both the boys to the movies. Since, this is Shan Rae's 1st time at the movies, we were quiet worried.

We reached the cinema 10 minutes before 10am, and the queue for the tickets was soooooo long!!! It took me almost an hour to get the tickets :( Honestly, I would have skip the movie on any other day. But, since it was Christmas day & I didn't want to disappoint the boys, so, I queued patiently.

In fact, we thought for a while thinking if we should bring Shan Rae to the movies. We are worried that Shan Rae will
... cry the moment the lights are dim
... refuse to sit still and starts to wonder around
... make noises, and request to be carry, etc etc

Well, we just worry too much. Shan Rae did perfectly fine. In fact, we noticed that he enjoys the movie too. We saw him laughing (as though he understands it), and clapping hands.

I didn't managed to take any photo of us at the cinema cause we were late, and there were lots of people everywhere. To sum it up, it is a great movie outing with both the boys!

Our Christmas Day

This year, we were too lazy & busy doing anything special for Christmas. Hence, there is no Christmas tree or presents for the boys. So, on Christmas day, we went to Mid Valley. We were there early as I promised to bring Shan Leo to watch Alvin & The Chipmunks: The Squeakquel.

Basically, our Christmas day is all about movie, food, shopping & taking photos :D

Here are some photos of the day.

Lately, I just love taking photos of just the boys.

I really love this photo! It has been a while since I have a nice photo together with Shan Leo.

We purchased ticket to take photo with Santa Claus. And, we are very happy with the outcome, cause we were so surprised that the photo turned out so well. Both the boys were looking at the camera! When Shan Rae saw Mr. Santa, he was so scared that he refused to go near him. Hence, mummy have to stand, while I sit next to Mr. Santa.

More photos taken at The Gardens.

So, this is our Christmas day. And, I quietly tell myself, next Christmas, I must planned for a mini Christmas party for the boys just like the previous year.
