An Acute Asthma Attack

Yesterday (29th Mar 2010) marked the first time Shan Leo had asthma attack. And, what surprised us was, he was diagnosed as acute asthma attack.

An acute asthma attack is very serious and comes on suddenly and generally is caused by allergens or infection of the upper respiratory tract.

In Shan Leo's case, he had a lung infection.

Anyway, he was very worried when mummy told him that he has to be admitted to the hospital. This is Shan Leo's first admission to the hospital (and hopefully is the last!). Since mummy is taking care of Shan Rae, daddy has to manage Shan Leo by himself.

They arrived at the hospital about 11am, and both of them waited till almost 5pm before Shan Leo was checked in to the room. It was a long wait. By the time I reached the hospital (7pm), Shan Leo was busy watching cartoons. He looks fine. Knowing that he will be bored, I printed some crossword puzzles for him. I hang around for almost 2 hours before heading home. And daddy stayed with Shan Leo in the hospital.

Today, I reached the hospital just before 7am to take over from daddy. The nurse came at about 7.30am and gave him his nebulizer. Shan Leo continue to sleep soundly until 9.30am. I found out from daddy that he woke up at 1am last night. Since he couldn't sleep, he watched cartoon till dunno what time *shake head*

Luckily, Shan Leo still have quite a good appetite throughout the 2 days. He can finish almost the whole plate of rice, vege & fish + soup all by himself.

Shan Leo spent almost 3/4 of his day watching cartoon, and the other 1/4, I have to force him to rest. How I did it? Well, I did struggle for more than an hour! I did threaten him that I will ask the nurse to take away the TV. Somehow, it didn't worked. Finally, I told him "Shan Leo, now is 3.15pm. If you close your eyes and rest until 3.45pm, I will let you watch cartoon". It works!!! Shortly after he closes his eyes, he knocked off. Even when the nurse came to gave him nebulizer, he continues to sleep *hehe*

In fact, he looks perfectly ok! Just that he is still wheezing badly. Well, this is Shan Leo's first time admitted to the hospital. It is also my first time staying in the hospital for 1 whole day. I felt that time passes slowly and a healthy person can become sick if they stay in the hospital for too long!!! Hence, I am glad that Doc says he can be discharge tomorrow!

Expression-LESS Pianist

It has been a long while since I hear Shan Leo playing the piano. Hence, I decided to record him playing the piano since I had the chance to do so. Shan Leo insisted to play the song without looking at his book.

This is what I saw. His expression-LESS face. It was really, really funny!!! And when he realised I was focusing on him, he gave me a cheeky smile. Check it out here.

We watch the video recording together. Had a great laugh. And, he plays again for me, but in a jolly way *hehe* The way he plays the piano is so effortless. I think he must have been practising hard for it since his upcoming piano recital is sometime next month.

Well done my darling Shan Leo! *muacks*

On A Good Day

The boys when they are in good terms and behaving. Both gave me a happy smile early in the morning *hugs*

Shan Rae loves to say "Beat Kor Kor" and "Scold Kor Kor" whenever Kor Kor disturb him, or when he hear us scolding Kor Kor. As for Shan Leo, he will be happily smiling whenever he hear us scolding Shan Rae.

There will be times when Shan Rae will mimic every single thing Kor Kor does. And, there will be times when he hates little things Kor Kor does!!! Aiyoh, can't the boys be more loving...

Shan Rae & Kinki

Shan Rae loves to play with Kinki. And each time he comes to my parents house, he will make it a point to say "Hello" to Kinki. A few times, we saw him lying down on the floor, so that he will be at eye level with Kinki when he says "Hello".

When Shan Rae was younger, he has this bad habit of giving Kinki a "kick" whenever he walked past her. Many of times, Shan Rae will accidentally step on poor Kinki who is resting or sleeping on the floor. And now that he has grown up a little, he will sayang her more.

Shan Rae also learned to share food with Kinki. Sometimes, when he drops some biscuit crumbs on the floor, he will pick it up & let Kinki eats it *hehe* This boy also loves to play Kinki's toy and sleep on her bed!!! *shake head*

Comparing Shan Rae with his Kor Kor, he loves Kinki more!

Big Buddha Head

Shan Rae the little "Big Buddha Head".

This came about almost 3 weeks after Shan Rae's first encounter with "Big Head Buddha". Initially, when Shan Rae saw the "Big Buddha Head", he will tell us NO! And, we are not allowed to put on our head (wear it). So, we love to tease him with the "Big Buddha Head" whenever he is naughty *hehe*

Three weeks later, Shan Rae is happily playing with the "Big Buddha Head". Am glad to say that Shan Rae has overcome his fear for "Big Buddha Head". That means, next year, kor kor can do the lion dance while he will be "Big Buddha Head".

30-Days Countdown

Shan Rae will be turning 2 years old, 1 month from today.

This boy has grown up so much and he has learned much more new things the last 2 months. He surprises us almost every day with new words!!! *clap, clap hands* Mummy teaches him to say a full sentence when he wants his milk. The sentence goes like this "Mummy, please let me drink milk". So, each time he wants to drink milk, he will have to say the full sentence. There are times when he wants milk in the middle of the night, he will unconsciously say the full sentence too *he he* All of us love to hear him talk. So, most of us will make him say the full sentence when he wants something, and we will teach him to replace the last word (milk) with another word.

He can understand lots of things that we tell him. Sometimes, I will test him by giving him some simple instructions such as "Put your hands on your nose", "Raise your hands", "Lift up your leg". He will be able to follow me most of the time.

Shan Rae has 2 favourite food. No.1 is sweet and no.2 is ice!!! And, he is a "chain" sweet & ice eater - meaning, he will continue to ask for more!!! When you say no, he will start to cry! And, he can cry and cry till we give in to him *shake head*

At times when he is really naughty, we will have no choice but to bring out the cane/hanger. So far, it works. Anyway, Shan Rae do also have an angel side of him. He loves to sing! And, he sings his own song, which is a combination of all our names - daddy, mummy, kor kor, ma ma, KK, PP, etc. He will repeat this again & again.

Shan Rae loves excitement! He loves it when you chase him. And, he loves to dash & jump on us. Mummy said Shan Rae once climb up the ladder so high up that he couldn't come down on his own! Luckily, he knows how to call for help.

This little one also knows how to take good care of his kor kor. And, when he doesn't see his kor kor around, he will ask for him. When we ask them to do something, he will make sure he held his kor kor hand, asking kor kor to join in.

Now that he is turning 2 soon, we hope Shan Rae will not be Terrible-2, but instead, he will be Terrific-2!!!
