Malacca Fun Fun Fun (19-21 Dec 2010)

We had a great holiday in Malacca recently. We were surprised that 3 days, 2 nights is just too short for us!!! Anyway, we are glad that we actually managed to do a fair bit of things this trip. We went to places we have never visited previously, and did things we have done together with the boys in Malacca.

We visited Melaka Zoo at Ayer Keroh. No regrets going there cause this zoo is so much better than Zoo Negara. I will blog about this separately.

Spent a fair amount of time in the beautiful infinity edge swimming pool, overlooking the Straits of Malacca. In fact, this is the main reason why I choose to stay in Holiday Inn Malacca. If you do stay there, make sure you get a room facing the Straits of Malacca.

Visited the Jonker Streets night market. Wished we had more time. There are lots of interesting things to see here, and quite a few stalls are nicely decorated. The only advice I can give is, spend more time checking out the stalls. You can always visit the shops during day time :D

Had tea (twice) at San Shu Gong, Jonker Street. I love their Icy White Coffee!

Walked around Jonker Street.

Took the Melaka River Cruise. Tickets are reasonably priced at RM10 for adults, and RM5 for kids. The cruise takes approx 45 mins, covering 9km. We like it so much that we took the all day tickets. The price is doubled, but its really worth the money since there are 10 jetty stops available. We left the car in the parking lot and cruise around hassle free :D

We stopped at the Maritime Museum to take some photos. None of us are interested to check out the museum. So, we didn't go inside.

From the Maritime Museum, we walked to the famous Melaka Red House.

Next, we took the cruise again to visit Kg Morten, one of the Malaysian national heritage site. They called this place a living museum. You get to see the traditional Malay houses built since 1920s, and currently, they are still people staying there. The old lady owner was really nice. She took us around the huge house, and explained the history to us.

We also visited Menara Taming Sari, the first revolving "Gyro Tower" in Malaysia. Entrance fees for MyKad holders are RM10 for adults, and RM5 for kids. It is just a short 7 mins ride, and we get to view the whole of Malacca town, 110 meter above. It is really nice!

The boys went for their first trishaw ride.

We are really satisfied and happy with all that we've accomplished in this leisure trip. But, we want more! We wanna go back to Malacca again because we missed the night river cruise due to the rain.

We didn't have emough time to cover the Melaka Duck Tour, buggy ride at the Botanical Garden, the Portugese settlement area, the crocodile farm & butterfly farm at Ayer Keroh. Besides, we also didn't managed to dine at Ole Sayang Nyonya or Nyonya Amy. These are surely good reasons to re-visit Malacca again!

Bickering Brothers

I just love this photo. A classic day-to-day scenario of the boys bickering at each other!!!

This photo surely shows the other side of the boys where everyone sees them as lovey dovey brothers *ha ha*

They fight! They argue! They laugh! They play! No matter what, they are brothers! They are growing up fast, and I am not too excited about it. I like them "fun size" (a term I picked up from one of the blogs I follow).

You Snap, I Snap!!!

This is what Shan Rae does each time I want to take his photos. He will quickly take out his (dummy) phone and start snapping pics (like real only) *haha*

After each take, he will show us. Shan Rae will ask "Is it nice?".

Anyway, he misplaced his "phone" and for the time being, I can still continue taking his photos without him trying to "take my photos" at the same time *haha*

A Winter Solstice Birthday

The boys mummy's birthday falls on the same day as Winter Solstice/Dong Zhi (22 Dec). Hence, every Dong Zhi is a double celebration for us. We will usually celebrate at home, except this year. We went to Oh Sushi, at Mid Valley for a simple dinner.

Just like every year, my mum don't make tang yuen. She will only buy some ready made tang yuen from the wet market for prayers. So, if we want to eat tang yuen, we will have to purchase the frozen ones from supermarket :( Well, my mum doesn't likes to eat tang yuen. So, she doesn't make it for us *sigh*

Our tang yuen is replaced by birthday cake. I was drooling all over when I saw so many friends posted photos of their home made tang yuen. I guess the boys will also grow up with frozen tang yuens...

Precious Moments (28)

I really love this photo of Shan Rae & his daddy! Shan Rae simply knows how to "melt" his daddy's heart. He will naturally put his hand around his daddy's neck when daddy carries him :D Such a gesture will be even more meaningful when Shan Rae grows up doing the same!

P/S: I also want!!!

My Mother

It is so funny to hear Shan Rae saying this "My Mother bought it for me". Well, when you read it, there is really nothing special to it. But, when you hear Shan Rae saying it... it will surely makes you laugh!!! The funny part is, Shan Rae uses "My Mother" instead of my mummy.

I just love to hear him saying "My Mother"!!! Such simple thing brightens up my day :D

Precious Moments (27)

Every nice & decent photo captured is definitely a precious moment to me :D

The Most Beautiful Baby

Shan Rae's answer is Miu Miu!!! No matter how beautiful or cute the other babies, in Shan Rae's eyes, Miu Miu is the most beautiful baby!!!

Dinos Alive! & Pleo at Pusat Sains Negara

We were greeted by Pleo, the emotional robotic dinosaur upon arrival :D It was indeed a pleasant surprise. The boys got a chance to pat & hold Pleo. But somehow, they are not interested. Pleo really has its own character, and kinda snobbish too *haha* Pleo refused to open its mouth for me when I tried to let him bite my finger! Anyway, I am sure everyone will love Pleo. As I know, you can purchase one at RM1,900 (I think) from some authorized Pensonic dealers.

We took the family package - RM25 for 2 adults & 2 kids. Once we were in, we saw 2 big dinosaurs. My dinosaur wanna-be Shan Rae was intimidated by the giant dinosaurs and refused to take photos.

We have to go up to the 2nd floor to tour the dinosaurs exhibit area.

This is the view from the 2nd floor. As you can see, there are still renovation works on-going. I think Pusat Sains Negara is going through a major revamp.

Check out Shan Rae's expression. He is so scared! He is so worried that the dinosaur will eat him *haha*

There are 2 exhibit halls like this one.

And, I think there are about 20+ dinosaurs displayed. You can even see a dancing giant dinosaur!!!

Besides checking out the dinosaurs, the boys also get to play with the different exhibits relating to physics, etc

There is also an area where you can test your IQ.

The boys having fun in the sand pit for the fossils digging. Well, we didn't tell the boys they are supposed to look for the dinosaurs fossils. Why? I noticed that most of the kids playing in the sand pit are very rough. Sands are flying every where, and none of the parents said anything when their kids start throwing the spade full of sand to the poor kid playing next to him/her. Hence, I asked the boys to play at the corner and I stood there watching on them like a hawk! But still, there are some really "adventurous" kids who will just run over and throw sands on you!!! *fuming angry at the kids & the parents who just sit there, allowing his/her kids to possibly injure another kid!*

Overall, it was quite a fun outing for the boys! The exhibit area is not that big but for RM25, I think it is worth the money la! In this visit, I discovered that Shan Leo is not interested in all these dinosaurs. He prefers to read about it from the books. Kinda weird though... I just thought he love anything about dinosaurs???

The Star Kids Fair 2010

27 Nov 2010, Kuala Lumpur Convention Center: We went to The Star Kids Fair 2010 after reading so much from the newspaper. But, I felt it was a big disappointment.

We went on the first day, and arrived at about 11.30am. There was a lot of people standing near the entrance. Apparently, the organizers did not open the door because they were waiting for the VIPs to arrive.

Well, the expo is supposed to open its door at 11am *fuming angry* Everyone stood there not knowing what is happening. At about 11.45am or so, everyone starts to "boo" and turn around. A few minutes later, I realised that they open another door for us to go in.

The exhibition area is quite small (2 halls only). What I really don't like are the banks and insurance companies!!! They were a nuisance!!! I was quite kind to allow this lady to share with me her offer. And, I already told her I have listened to all these many times. She just have to tell me what are the extra things she could offer. But, she kept going on and on, beating around the bush. After 5 minutes, I cannot tahan her, and tell her off!!!

We stayed for around 2 hours because I was quite keen with the cartoon animation package. But I didn't buy it. I would want to do some research first before departing RM500 or more for it. Anyway, I didn't managed to get anything except some info here and there. I guess this will be our first and also last time going to The Star Kids Fair :( I think Smart Kids Expo is slightly more interesting. What do you think?

Many = One

To get a decent photo of the boys like this one here, I need to take many, many, many, many.... shots!!!

What you can see here is after I have selected out those which are acceptable. And, from all the acceptable ones, I choose the above photo!!! This is happening each & every single time you see me posting a new photo of the boys *phew* It is getting tougher each time *sweat*

But, I am not giving up yet! I just read from Chin Nee's blog post on how QQ smiles sweetly for the camera now. How? Hop over to Chin Nee's blog to read it. I also want to try this on Shan Leo. Hope it works :D

Rapunzel or Tangled?

Finally, we managed to find time to watch Rapunzel. Or, do you called it Tangled? While I was googling for the movie poster, I found out that Disney changed the movie title Rapunzel to Tangled because they worried that Rapunzel doesn't appeal to boys!! The boys will think this is a princess type of movie. Thus, to ensure this movie attract the boys too, Disney called it Tangled. But, I still prefer to call it - Rapunzel!!! *haha*

Anyway, back to our movie outing. We went to TGV this time, and I was shocked that it cost me RM14 per ticket! It is so expensive!!! And, when we enter the cinema, we couldn't find the movie poster. Hence, no photos of the boys :( Besides, the seats are not very comfortable too. As much as I can, I will avoid TGV in future!

We love the movie a lot. And, we love all the characters - Rapunzel, Flynn (Eugene), Maximus & Pascal!!! Personally, I love Maximus - the faithful horse (besides Rapunzel). There are a few touching scenes in the movie. So, if you are the emotional type, you will be easily moved to tears. Do watch Rapunzel if you have not done so :D
